Frequently Asked Questions
Anyone who is in need of a 3 day emergency supply of food and who has not received a hamper from us in that calendar month is eligible for a hamper.
You can apply for a hamper between 1pm and 2:30pm Monday to Friday. Just come to the Food Bank at 64 11th St. E. and we’ll see what we can do for you.
You need to have valid ID, either a valid Saskatchewan health card, SGI identification or driver’s license, or a valid treaty card or other photo ID.
Food banks are non-profit organizations with no direct government funding.
At the Prince Albert Food Bank, clients will only receive one hamper per calendar month.
Each food hamper contains enough food to last approximately three days.
Many people that use food bank services have homes and stable jobs, and yet cannot afford everything necessary to survive without assistance. Some use food bank services during transition phases in life (for example: divorce or leaving an abusive relationship, between jobs), or occasionally when unexpected financial needs must be met first (for example, home repairs).
The food bank also provides all types of hygiene products (i.e. shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, feminine products, deodorant, etc.).
The Prince Albert Food Bank collects and distributes home grown produce. It doesn’t matter if it has been washed or not. It will be accepted either way.
The Food Bank will also accept donations of canned goods up to one year past the labeled best before date. The only exception to that is for milk or dairy products (for example, milk, formula, cheese, etc.).
